... lying on the bed, you are there, letting your thoughts go away. You get to touch a condition close to ecstasy, where the void is filled with pleasure.
The practice of shirodhara deeply relaxes the mind and body by harmonizing them. It is nourishing, it acts on the nervous system, calming it, and restores our body's natural ability to heal.
Shiro means head and dhara means flow. Technically, the treatment consists of a gentle pouring of hot oil on the forehead with a regular and constant flow.
Performed manually, it stimulates both the center of the forehead and the scalp for a period ranging from twenty minutes to an hour.
The hot oil that flows on the forehead stimulates the pituitary gland, located in the center of the forehead. According to Ayurveda, the forehead is the seat of intuition, spirituality and healing. It is therefore considered a real energetic treatment that awakens intuition and inner wisdom.
